Six families of SOTA specialties
Resilience and security: blast-resistant glazing (bomb blast), anti-intrusion RC4 to RC6, impact. Active skin and mechatronics: smart skin / electrochromic glass, complex motorised envelope systems (revolving doors, kinetic facades, motorised solar shading, BMS-driven ventilation openings). Materials and structures: structural glass and jumbo glazing, high-performance envelope materials (timber cladding, weathering steel, UHPC, GFRP, terracotta, ceramic, ETFE/PTFE textile structures). Energy and carbon: BIPV (energy-generating envelope), circular economy, urban mining. Diagnostics and forensics: reading an existing envelope asset as a system, judicial expert witness and facade pathology. Regulatory compliance: MoPEC, CECB, Minergie, SIA Swiss normative frameworks for energy compliance of the envelope. The role of the Envelope Engineering pole is to carry that integration. SOTA expertises are not silos: they enrich the systemic mastery we bring on a project, they do not replace it.
